Sexual Harassment Bihar Vaishali

A 20-year-old girl was reportedly burnt alive after she resisted sexual assault by the accused in a shocking incident reported from Bihar. The incident took place on October 30, 2020 in the village of Rasoolpur under the Desari police station in the district of Vaishali in Bihar.

The girl was set ablaze when she went outside her house to dispose of the garbage. Three individuals, including the father of the accused, allegedly dragged the woman and set her on fire after pouring kerosene on her. The girl had sustained around 75 per cent burn injuries.

The family of the victim claimed that the heinous act involved Vijai Rai, his sons, Satish Rai, and Chandan Kumar Rai. The victim was admitted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) following the ghastly incident, where she succumbed to her injuries on November 15, 2020.

A video of the victim naming her tormentor from the hospital bed has gone viral from social media. In the alleged video statement to police, the victim said, "I was going to throw garbage around 6 pm when Satish Rai, son of Vinay Rai poured kerosene over me and set ablaze."

The family of the victim staged a protest at Patna's Kargil Chowk by holding the victim's body on the road because of police negligence in the case. The family requested that all three suspects in the case be arrested. After police assurance, according to a report in ANI, the family decided to conduct the funeral of the deceased.

According to the victim's mother, Maimoona Khatoon, "The accused on Thursday (October 29) threatened to kill her and on the very next day he set her on fire."

The victim's sister, Gulshan Parveen's younger sister, alleged that for the past two-four months, the defendant had been stalking and threatening her sister.
