FIR Filed Against Delhi Man Who Spat On Manipuri Girl; Called Her Corona And Fled The Spot

Spat On Manipuri Girl Called Her Corona

An extremely shameful incident was witnessed in Delhi where a man spat on a woman from North East and called her corona. Delhi police registered a case against the man who spat on a Manipuri woman and fled from the spot. This incident took place near Vijay Nagar area of North Delhi on Sunday night. 

The incident was narrated by a twitter user Akhu Chingangbam in which a middle aged man spat on a Manipuri woman and ran away from the spot. 

An FIR has been registered against the man at Mukherjee Nagar Police Station and investigation is currently underway. Case is registered under Section 509 of Indian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC) for insulting the modesty of a woman.

Section 509 of IPC talks states that whoever, intending to insult the modesty of any woman, utters any word, makes any sound or gesture, or exhibits any object, intending that such word or sound shall be heard, or that such gesture or object shall be seen, by such woman, or intrudes upon the privacy of such woman, shall be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both.
