Sudhir Chaudhary Faces FIR for Alleged Casteist Remarks Against Hemant Soren

NEW DELHI: TV journalist Sudhir Chaudhary is the subject of an FIR that has been filed at the Ranchi SC-ST police station. The anchor of TV news channel Aaj Taks prime-time program Black and White, Sudhir Chaudhary, is accused of making casteist remarks about Hemant Soren, the former chief minister of Jharkhand.

A group of young people from Ranchi filed a complaint at the SC-ST police station on Wednesday, claiming that Sudhir Chaudharys remarks had offended not just Hemant Soren but the entire tribal community. The complaint states that Hemant Soren will have to go back 40 years and live as a tribal in the forest was stated by Sudhir Chaudhary on his show.

Where will he spend tonight? He is accustomed to a lavish lifestyle. But today, in a way, it will be like going back by 20, 30, 40 years like an Adivasi to the jungle. It will be a tough night, said Chaudhary.

He said in Hindi: Ab aaj ki raat kahan bitegi? Unhe toh shandaar lifestyle ki adat hain. Wo private planes mein chalte hain, badi badi gadiyon mein chalte hain. Aj unke liye, ek tarike se, waisa hi hoga ki jaise wo 20-30-40 saal pehle wapas apne kisi adivasi ki taur par jungle mein chale. Aj ki raat kaafi mushkil hone wali hain.
