Suspended SHO allowed To Attend Sons Wedding in Police Custody by Special CBI Court

The suspended Station House Officer (SHO) Jaswinder Kaur, who was under the judicial custody under the case of bribery has asked for the interim bail to attend her sons wedding, so the Special Court of the Central Bureau of Investigation has granted her the interim bail to attend the wedding on 14 August 2020 in police custody.

The court had allowed her to attend the wedding ceremony on 14 August 2020 from 9 am to 4 pm under the police custody and the police can handcuff her if required.

The suspended SHO Jaswinder Kaur had filed a petition on 6 august seeking interim bail from 13 August 2020 to 15 August 2020 to attend the rituals and ceremony for his sons wedding which will be held in Chandigarh. She also added in her petition that being a mother, she has to be there in her sons wedding to perform the various important rituals and ceremonies, and also, she has to greet and meet the guest who will come to attend the wedding. 

She also said in her application that she will neither meet indirectly nor directly the person and evidence connected to the present case nor she will go to the Manimarja Police Station and her movement will be restricted to her residence and hotel, which is the venue of marriage.

The special CBI judge Sushil Garg  ordered, In the interest of justice the Burail model jail Superintendent is directed to make necessary arrangement to take the accused in police custody to her sons wedding ceremony from 9 am to 4 pm on 14 August at her expenses and after that bring her back to the jail in safe custody. The order also added that the police authority will be at liberty to handcuffed her if it deemed necessary or the circumstances required for the jail superintendent are also directed to take all the precautionary measures for the Covid-19 before attending the ceremony and reverting to the judicial office.

Her judicial custody has also been extended further for 14 days on Tuesday.

Background of the Case: 

The CBI has arrested a Chandigarh police sub-inspector for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 2 lacks from a financer to settle a case of attempt of murder against his three employees. Additional demanded Rs 9 lacks from the financer Prem to settle the case against Joseph, Deepak, and Anil and he gave Rs 2 lacks as the first installment of the complete bribe amount. Mohan Singh told the complainant that the money will be distributed among Jaswinder Kaur. On the complaint the CBI started recording the phone call of both complainant and accused and started trapping them as complainant handed over the money to the Sub Inspector, police arrested him. At first, CBI was not able to find out any evidence against the SHO but in the court the complainant that he was taken to SHO by SI Mohan Singh to meet with her and at the meeting, she demanded the money. He later moved on application against her, after getting enough evidence.
