Thief returns 1,700 doses of COVID vaccine

A man in Haryana allegedly fled with a bag full of vaccines but later changed his mind and handed them over to the police. A handwritten apology was also added to the bag by the man.

A man reportedly stole 1,700 vaccine doses from a hospital in Jind, Haryana, on Thursday, April 22nd, 2021. The suspect later wrote a handwritten letter apologising for the theft and returned the bag.

"Sorry, I didn't realise it was medicinees for corona," the thief wrote on the bag as it was returned. The message was written in Hindi and was attached to the bag of vaccines.

The suspect is yet to be named. Police said they're on the search for the thief and have filed a case in connection with the theft from Jind General Hospital's storeroom.

The bag containing Covishield and Covaxin doses was stolen from Jind General Hospital's storeroom.

Suspect gave bag to a man outside a tea shop

The man returned with the bag about 12.30 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021, and gave it to a man at a tea shop outside Civil Lines police station. The unnamed suspect pretended to be delivering food for the police before fleeing under the guise of running an errand.

The guy was suspected of stealing the vaccinations when he mistook them for Remdesivir vials, according to the cops.
