Two masked men fire 10 gunshots at lawyer's house; estranged ex- lover booked

Two masked men fire gunshots at lawyer house

On Thursday, March 17, two masked men fired gunshots at an advocate's house in Harmilap Nagar at 1:58 am to threaten him. The family alleged the duo fired ten gunshots and the police have so far recovered 8 empty shells from the spot and the entire incident has been captured in the CCTV of the house.

Lawyer Aditya Bhadwar, a legal consultant with a multinational company, in his complaint, levelled allegations against the family of a woman with whom he was once in a relationship. He was to marry her, but later they broke up and the woman's family threatened him with dire consequences.

Further, the advocate in his complaint claimed that Shivani, a resident of Kalka, had hired goons to fire at his house with a motive to kill him.

The two families have an old enmity and had filed cross FIRs. The Lawyers family was recently threatened by the women's family for which an FIR was registered at Zirakpur police station. Now, two masked men fired at the house of the advocate.

We have booked the woman, but the two men are yet to be identified," said Mohali SSP Harjit Singh.

The police said that they will question the woman and her family members to establish the identity of the masked men. According to the police, the accused fired 10 shots that hit doors, windows and walls of the house. One accused was wearing a turban and the other was limping.

Batwa police post-in-charge ASI Balwinder Singh said, "We booked Shivani and two unknown persons under Section 307 of the IPC, 1860 & the Arms Act, 1959. It is a family dispute and we are verifying details.

Motive of Attack:

The motive of the attack probably was revenge after the advocates relationship with his childhood friend Shivani became strained. He said in 2019 both of them had decided to marry as the families were known to each other & they had studied together. Shivanis family was constructing their house in Kalka & he gave them Rs 12 lakh, but when he demanded the money back, the relationship became sour & she even called off the marriage, he said. Later, Shivanis family threatened the advocate with dire consequences.

On Oct 8, 2021, Shivani got engaged to another person and got a fake FIR of snatching registered against the advocate. He was sent to jail and even lost his job. When he came out of jail, he lodged a written complaint with the Mohali SSP against her.

Last year in December, Aditya alleged that when he, along with his father, went to Mandi Dabwali, they both were attacked by Shivanis acquaintances, following which an FIR was registered against the attackers in Dhuri.

On January 30 this year, he received a threatening call from her to withdraw the case. On March 13 this year, he was again threatened by Shivani, and he complained to Baltana police, but they did not take any action, he said.
