Anando Mukherjee appointed as the New Standing Counsel for the State of Mizoram

NEW DELHI: The Governor of Mizoram, vide Notification No. A. 45012/11/90-LJE dated 25/01/2024 has appointed Mr. Anando Mukherjee, Advocate-on-Record as the new Standing Counsel for the State of Mizoram. As per the Notification, Mukherjee will be representing the State as the Standing Counsel before the Supreme Court of India, High Court, Tribunals and other quasi-judicial fora.

The said appointment has been made by the Government of Mizoram in exercise of Rule 4 sub-rule (ii) of the Mizoram Standing Counsel for the Government (Appointment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2024. It is given to understand that Mr. Mukherjee has already assumed charge as the sole Standing Counsel for the State from his predecessor, Mr. Siddesh Kotwal w.e.f. from 29th January, 2024.

Mr. Anando Mukherjee, who is a Partner at Singh And Mukherjee Chambers is currently also serving as the Advocate-on-Record for the State of Jharkhand and the State of West Bengal. Earlier this year, Mr. Biswajit Deb took charge as the new Advocate General for the State of Mizoram.
