Cabinet hikes dearness allowance for govt employees

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a 4 per cent increase in dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees and dearness relief (DR) for pensioners.

The release of the additional installment of dearness allowance and dearness relief will be applicable from July 1, 2023, the Information & Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said in the press briefing after the Union Cabinet meeting.

With this 4 per cent hike, the DA and DR will be increased from 42 per cent to 46 per cent. This increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
