The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has decided to increase the confinement Expenses that are paid to the pregnant women who are not able to avail the maternity services of the ESI dispensaries. The cost has been raised from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 7500, as reported on 14th February, 2020. The decision was taken at the 181st meeting of the corporation held on 13th February, 2020 as administered by the Labour Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar. "Keeping in view the rise in the cost of living index resulting increase in expenditure related to confinement, the existing amount of confinement expenses has been increased from Rs 5000 to Rs 7500," an official release said on 14th February, 2020 (Friday) said. Further to which it also said that the facility is for all the pregnant women who are not able to avail the services due to unavoidable reasons.
ESI Corporation has approved the operational needs of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota and furthered the admissions to ESIC Medical institutions from the academic year 2020-21. A provisional admission policy 2020 for admission to MBBS/BDS seats under the Insured Persons (IPS) quota has also been approved. The revised estimates for the current year and budget estimates for the following year have also been approved.
