Court Fees Payable For Cases Before District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forums Reduced [Read Notification]

The Ministry of Consumer and Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has issued a notification reducing the court fees payable for filing cases before the district consumer disputes redressal forums.

The notification dated September 14, 2018, amends Section 9A of the Consumer Protection Rules, 1987, which deals with court fee applicable before the district consumer dispute redressal forum.

As per the Consumer Protection (twenty-second Amendment) Rules, 2018, no court fee is needed to be paid for disputes valued up to Rs. 5 lakh, for disputes valued between Rs. 5 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh, the court fee is Rs. 200 and for disputes valued between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh, the court fee is Rs. 400.

Earlier, the payment slab was court fee of Rs. 200 for disputes valued between Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 5 lakhs; court fee of Rs. 400 for disputes valued between Rs. 5 lakhs and Rs. 10 lakhs; and a court fee of Rs. 500 for disputes valued between Rs. 10 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs.
