Sunita Williams return from Space PM Modi extends special invitation to visit India

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended an invitation to NASA astronaut Sunita Williams to visit India. This follows the departure of two astronauts who had been stranded in orbit for nine months. On Tuesday, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, along with two other crew members, undocked from the International Space Station (ISS) at 1:05 a.m. New York time. Their SpaceX capsule is set to travel through space, re-enter Earth’s atmosphere, and land in the ocean off the coast of Florida around 6 p.m. local time.

PM Modi’s Special Message to Sunita Williams Ahead of Her Return from Space

“Even though you are thousands of miles away, you continue to remain close to our hearts. The people of India are praying for your good health and success in your mission," Modi said in the letter. "After your return, we are looking forward to seeing you in India. It will be a pleasure for India to host one of its most illustrious daughters," the prime minister said.

Sharing the letter, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh took to X and wrote, "As the whole world waits for the safe return of Sunita Williams, this is how PM Narendra Modi expressed his concern for this daughter of India..."

Earlier, PM Modi met Massimino at an event and requested that this letter from him and the people of India must reach her. PM Modi even wished Williams strength and a safe return, reaffirming India’s deep bond with its illustrious daughter.

Sunita Williams’ Achievements Make India Proud, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned that he had inquired about Sunita Williams’ well-being during his meetings with former US Presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden on his visits to the United States. He highlighted that Williams’ accomplishments have always been a source of immense pride for 1.4 billion Indians, adding that her recent achievements once again reflect her remarkable resilience and determination.

Modi noted that Williams’ mother, Bonnie Pandya, must be eagerly awaiting her return, and expressed confidence that “Deepakbhai’s” blessings were with her. He also extended his warm regards to Williams’ husband, Michael Williams.
