The 72nd edition of the Miss World beauty pageant will be held in Hyderabad from May 7 to May 31.

The Telangana government’s decision to allocate ₹200 crore for Miss World 2025 has drawn sharp criticism from the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which has questioned the government’s financial priorities, especially when the state is grappling with a ₹71,000 crore revenue shortfall.

BRS Criticizes Telangana Government’s ₹200 Crore Spending on Miss World Amid Financial Crisis

BRS leader KT Rama Rao condemned the “perverse logic” behind the ₹200 crore allocation for Miss World 2025 while referring to allegations surrounding the ₹46 crore Formula-E race scam.
“Apparently spending ₹46 Crore for Formula - E race in Hyderabad was wrong & will attract cases being filed. But spending ₹200 Crores of public money to conduct Miss World, a beauty contest is right !! What is this perverse logic? Can you please explain @RahulGandhiJi ?” KT Rama Rao remarked.

The event will highlight Telangana’s rich cultural heritage, featuring local artisans and their crafts, along with traditional dance and music performances. Specially organized tours and excursions for contestants, organizers, and media will provide an immersive experience of Telangana’s heritage sites, natural landscapes, and urban landmarks.

The opening ceremony, grand finale, and other related events will be set against iconic Telangana backdrops, creating visually striking moments with global appeal.

“We will use this event to push the narrative of Telangana rural landscape as a hub for film tourism,” stated the Telangana I&PR department.
