Uttar Pradesh Assembly Paperless National EVidhan Project

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana visited the Uttar Pradesh E-Vidhan Bhavan as part of the National E-Vidhan Application project on Thursday. It will be inaugurated on May 20 by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla with the training module. He would also introduce a new Assembly app. The Media advisor to CM Adityanath praised the modern initiative and said that Uttar Pradesh is ready to accept the new paperless assembly.

416 tablets have been installed in the state of Uttar Pradesh's assembly chambers, according to reports. The state's Assembly members will be able to access their papers on tablets from May 23rd onwards. Despite the fact that the Assembly has 403 seats, 416 tablets have been installed to allow MLCs to occasionally attend sessions.

On Friday in the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, a special programme called 'Prabhodhan' will be organized. During the programme, he will address the newly elected members of the Assembly. For the assembly members to become more comfortable with the new digital, paperless system, the state has also decided on a specific training programme. The training, scheduled for May 21st, will be led by 30 members of the National Informatics Center's specialist staff.

In spite of all the provisions and inspections that have been made by the Chief Minister, the state chose to preserve paper documents in early sessions for those members who would need some time to adapt to the new digital system.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first Indian state to strive for digital processes by installing tablets in the Assembly. Nagaland's state assembly became the first to use tablets and e-books instead of paper for its proceedings on March 28, 2022. Electronic devices were used by all 60 members of the Assembly to participate in House proceedings. On the other hand, this is the first time that tablets have been installed so extensively in an assembly.

'Prabhodhan' will be addressed by Speaker Om Birla along with a number of high-ranking Uttar Pradesh Assembly members, including former Opposition Leader Ram Govind Chaudhry, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna, and former Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit.
