Cambridge University International Model United Nations (CUIMUN) 2018 [November 2-4, UK]

About CUIMUN

The Cambridge University International Model United Nations (CUIMUN) was founded by a group of Cantabrigians eager to develop and share the knowledge and abilities associated with the fine art of diplomacy. The First Session was held in 1994, and the Conference was expanded significantly following Cambridges hugely successful hosting of the 1998 edition of Harvard World MUN, the Olympics of Model United Nations.

Now in its twenty-fourth year, CUIMUN is one of the most established, historic and prestigious Conferences on the European, and indeed global, MUN circuit. The Secretariat for the Twenty-Fourth Session looks forward to raising the bar even higher in November 2018.

Conference Theme: Architects of the Better World

Almost 73 years ago, amidst the ravages of World War II, hundreds of delegates from some 50 countries gathered in San Francisco on April 25, 1945, for the start of the conference to create the United Nations.

The inaugural address on this occasion is the core basis of the theme of CUIMUN XXIV:

You members of this Conference are to be the architects of the better world. In your hands rests our future.

Till date, the work of the United Nations reaches every corner of the globe. Although best known for peacekeeping, peace-building, conflict prevention and humanitarian assistance, there are many other ways the United Nations and its System (specialised agencies, funds and programmes) affect our lives and make the world a better place.

Cambridge University International Model United Nations aims to continue this noble ambition through the debates, solutions and diplomacy that is generated at our conference. We hope all our attendees can inculcate the theme in their experience and emerge with the reassurance that we are the ones who will contribute to making the world safer and equal for all.
