Bail order to be given effect only if applicant tests negative for COVID 19: Gujarat HC

Bail order to be given tests negative for COVID

As the country tries to curb the pandemic, the Gujarat HC has imposed a condition on prisoners seeking bail. Only those prisoners bail pleas will be allowed who have tested negative for COVID.

It is only in the case that the applicant has tested negative, shall he be released on temporary bail, it said.

The Bench consisting of Justice RM Chhaya and another Division Bench comprising of Justice Chhaya and justice NV Anjaria took note of the situation via Suo moto proceedings.

In the latest order, the HC has asked the Government to sensitize and educate the public as a whole to break the covid chain and ultimately curbb the number of positive cases.
