Central government to Supreme Court Delhi Dehradun expressway

Central government informs Supreme Court that it has no objection to independent experts in the committee to check the environmental impact of the -deforestation caused by Delhi-Dehradun expressway

SG Tushar Mehta: We can have no objection

AG KK Venugopal: animal underpasses to the tune of 6 are being built. 6 metres height underpasses for elephants are being created. With such an exhaustive independent body, would it not look like court does not trust since all members are from centre.

Justice DY Chandrachud: we will make it clear that we are not supplanting the committee by NGT and clarify that we are not on independence of the committee.

AG: NGT has said any member who have interest can appear before high powered committee

SC: They have given three names, one is who prepared the wildlife report and the other two also have been appointed by govt only. we can stand this case by a day or two so that you can take a look at these names Mr AG

Matter adjourned to next Tuesday.
