Centre Appoints Chief Justices for Five High Courts

NEW DELHI: The Union government has notified the appointment of Chief Justices of five High Courts, including the Bombay High Court where Justice R D Dhanuka would have a brief tenure of four days as head of the judiciary since he would superannuate on May 30.

According to notifications, acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court S V Gangapurwala has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.

In other decisions, Justice Augustine George Masih, judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court appointed has been nominated as Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court; Justice Mamidanna Satya Ratna Sri Ramachandra Rao, judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court (PHC: Telangana) as Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court; and Justice Sarasa Venkatanarayana Bhatti, judge, Kerala High Court (PHC: Andhra Pradesh) as Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.
