New Delhi: A Delhi Court today granted bail to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and their son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in the land-for-job scam case.

"This was a legal thing, we appeared before the court (today). We have been granted bail by the court," said Tejashwi Yadav addressing the media.

Special Judge Geetanjali Goel granted relief to the accused after they appeared before the Court in pursuance of the summons issued to them.

They were granted bail on a personal bond of Rs. 50,000 each and a surety of like amount.

On September 22, Special Judge Goel had issued summons while observing that, The chargesheet and the documents and material on record, prima facie show the commission of offences under Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) read with Sections 420 (cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record) IPC and Sections 8, 11, 12, 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 and other substantive offences.

The Court had summoned all the accused on October 4 taking cognizance of a fresh chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on July 3. This was the second chargesheet filed by the CBI naming Tejashwi Yadav.

Land-for-job scam: All you need to know

On October 10 last year, the CBI had filed a chargesheet in the case against 16 persons including former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.

The CBI had alleged that Lalu Prasad Yadav, as the Minister of Railways during the period between 2004-2009, had obtained pecuniary advantages in the form of the transfer of landed property in the name of his family members in return for the appointment of substitutes in Group D Post in different Zones of Railways.

It has been alleged that the appointments made in the Railways were not in consonance with the standards and guidelines established by the Indian Railways for hiring.

The Court has now listed the matter for further hearing on October 16.
