Delhi HC Orders All Subordinate Courts To Sit Physically on Alternate Day Basis [READ ORDER]

The Registrar General of the Delhi High Court has instructed the Principal District & Sessions Judges and the Principal Judge, Family Court to start physical hearings on an alternate day basis from 18.01.2020.

It will be done through video conferencing on non physical days. The order directs the Principal District & Sessions Judges and the Principal Judge, Family Court to prepare a roster of all other subordinate courts within their respective districts to ensure that the courts can start physical hearings. It will commence from 18th January, 2021. 

The order came into being because of the lowering intensity of the covid 19 cases in NCT Delhi.

The order clarifies that the recording of the evidence shall be done while scrupulously adhering to the norms of social distancing, when holding courts physically.

It is worthy to note that the subordinate courts are allowed to keep a record of the evidence except those who are in the custody according to the order.

The order also directs the Principal district and session judges to make the necessary arrangements to produce in the physical courts. The Director general and the lockup in charge under trial prisoners will be coordinating for the same. 

This shall commence from 1st February, 2021. After that, the cases will be taken on priority basis and evidence is also need to be recorded. 

Lastly, the order also request to maintain social distancing norms and strictly follow all the Government guidelines to all the visitors who will be attending the physical hearings in the court.
