BREAKING: Delhi High Court grants interim relief to Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar in defamation case vs The Wire

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar in a defamation case by him against the digital news portal The Wire.

The verdict which was reserved yesterday was delivered by a bench of Justice Sachin Datta. The bench ordered The Wire to take down the impugned article and tweets against the officer, finding the same to be prima facie defamatory.

Kumar has alleged that the news portal defamed him through a report which cast aspersions on him by falsely alleging his involvement in a land acquisition case.

The suit has been filed against the news report titled Links of Son of Delhi Chief Secretary to Beneficiary's Family in Land Over-Valuation Case Raise Questions which was written by Meetu Jain and published by on the platform on November 9.

A detailed order in the matter is awaited.
