The Registrar (Vigilance) of the Karnataka High Court on May 31, 2019, issued circular directing judicial officers in the State to not to use mobile phones while sitting on the dais.

The High Court has also directed the judicial officers to refrain from using social media applications like WhatsApp, Skype, Facebook, etc. during the court hours for personal or any official communication.

Any lapse will be viewed seriously, the circular states.

The circular issued pursuant to administrative order of Karnataka High Court Chief Justice reads,

All the judicial officers in the State are hereby directed not to use Mobile phones in any manner while sitting on dais and not to use any social media such as WhatsApp, Skype, Facebook, etc., during the court hours for personal or any official communication. Any lapse will be viewed seriously.
