Lalu Prasad Yadav Convicted by CBI in Doranda Treasury Scam Case; Sentence to be Pronounced on Feb 18

A Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Court in Ranchi has convicted former Union Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in Rs.139 crore Doranda treasury scam case. 

The judgement was pronounced today by Judge CK Shashi, who will decide the quantum of sentence on February 18.

Lalu Prasad Yadav has already been convicted in four other fodder scam cases for illegal withdrawals of Rs. 37.7 crore and Rs. 33.13 crore from the Chaibasa treasury, Rs 89.27 crore from the Deoghar treasury, and Rs 3.76 crore from the Dumka treasury. 

The Rs. 950 crore scam took place between 1991 and 1996 when Yadav was the Chief Minister of Bihar. 

Yadav was sentenced to a total of 14 years in jail for his involvement in the fodder scam cases and thereafter he had challenged all convictions. 

He was granted bail
