In the Wake of Increasing COVID-19 Cases Delhi HC Issues Notice, says District Courts Will Only Hear Urgent Matters Now [READ ORDER]

An order was issued by Delhi High Court on Monday (April 19, 2021) stating that the Judicial Officers shall take only urgent matters of their respective courts for hearing now.

The Officers shall hear the urgent matters through videoconferencing.

It was further notified that other said matters have been adjourned en bloc by the respective courts. Any update on the same shall be notified on the website(s) of the Delhi District Courts.

This order was in continuation to the one No.256/RG/DHC/2021 dated April 8, 2021. The said decision has been taken by the Court of law after keeping a check on the alarming increase in the COVID-19 cases and how the second wave has crippled the nation.

As Delhis positivity cases leap by 30% now, there are COVID-19 positive cases in the Courts as well. Henceforth, the proposed step has been taken to ensure the safety of the Courts and the public at large.
