NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court is likely to pronounce on Thursday in its judgement on political crisis in Maharashtra after Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and other MLAs raised a banner of revolt against their party leader Uddhav Thackeray, which forced him to resign as Chief Minister of Maharashtra ending the Maha Vikas Aghadi government of Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP.
Besides on the issue of the Maharashtra political crisis, the top court would also deliver its judgement on a tussle between the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor over the administrative control of services.
Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud made the announcement that there would be two important judgements pronounced on Thursday. The CJI-led five judge bench was then hearing a batch of petitions for recognising same sex marriage.
A five-judge Constitution bench of CJI Chandrachud and Justices M R Shah, Krishna Murari, Hima Kohli and P S Narasimha had on March 16 reserved its judgements on a batch of petitions filed by both the Thackeray and the Shinde factions.
It is also to be noted that Justice Shah, a part of the bench, is set to superannuate on May 15.
The same composition of the bench had reserved its judgement in Delhi Vs LG case.
