Karkardooma Court Convicts Two In The Kidnapping And Rape Of A 5-year Old Minor In 2013 In Delhi

The Karkardooma Court of Delhi today (January 18, 2020) has convicted two accused, namely, Manoj Kumar and Pradeep, in connection with a 2013 kidnapping and rape case of a 5-year-old girl in Gandhi Nagar, Delhi. The court will hear the argument on the quantum of sentence on January 30, 2020. The Court had in its earlier hearing adjourned its verdict in the matter. 

On April 15, 2013 a five year old girl was kidnapped and brutally raped by two men who were her neighbors. On the unfortunate day, two evil men had lured the kid with a chocolate, kidnapped and raped her. Her unconscious body was found in the building two days after the Commission of the crime.

The victim had been moved to AIIMS on account of serious injuries in the private parts and bruises on her lips, arms, cheeks and neck. According to the doctors, the accused had inserted a 200ml bottle and candles in her body, which were found in the body of the child. They had also tried to strangle her and slit her throat. The trial court had declared one of the accused a juvenile against which ruling; her parents had filed a plea in the court of appeal. They had been charged with sections including the rape of a minor, unnatural offences, attempt to murder, kidnapping, wrongful confinement and destruction of evidence under the Indian Penal Code, 1860They were also charged with aggravated sexual assault under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
