NBT forms Internal Complaints Committee with Sr Adv Mahalakshmi Pavani as Chairperson [Read Office Order]

The National Book Trust, formed by the Union government to promote books, has reconstituted its Internal Complaints Committee with nomination of senior advocate Mahalakshmi Pavani as its chairperson to deal with sexual harrasment plaints by women employees.

According to a notification issued on November 11 by Assistant Director (Establishment) Subhashis Dutta, the Competent Authority of the Trust is pleased to reconstitute the Committee in the Trust (NBT-Internal Complaints Committee) with immediate effect in suspension of the previous committee formed on May 12, 2020.

This was in pursuance of the instructions issued on January 27, 1998 from the Ministry of Human Resource Development relating to the implementation of the guidelines laid by the Supreme Court of India regarding the Sexual Harassment of women workers at workplace, it said.

The Committee would also comprise, Neera Jain Chief Editor & Joint Director, NBT, Chitvan Singhal advocate, High Court and Mayank Surolia Deputy Director (Exhibition) as members and Kanchan Wanchoo Sharma Editor (NCCL & PR) as member secretary.

In addition, Ekta (Assistant, NBT) will assist the Committee in putting up of the files and other related work.
