NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notice to the National Testing Agency on a petition filed by Xylem Learning Private Limited over the issue of time limit on raising grievance on OMR sheets of the candidates in NEET UG 2024.
A bench of Justices Manoj Misra and S V N Bhatti initially asked the petitioner as to what fundamental rights of a coaching centre violated here prompting it to file a petition under Article 32 of the Constitution.
"This is one of the reasons where we see this role played by the coaching centres, that is of bagpipers. They have hardly any role to play. Their obligation and duty are different...if they have discharged their service that is the end of the matter. They have not undertaken to see that everything that Centre is supposed to do it will be taken care by them," the bench said.
On behalf of the lead petitioner, senior advocate R Basant submitted that some of the petitioners were also students who were not given the OMR sheets.
The NTA counsel, however, claimed that the OMR sheets have already been uploaded.
The court, however, asked him to check if there was a time limit on raising grievances on such OMR sheets.
The bench fixed the matter for hearing on July 8, asking the NTA to file its response to the petition.
Dozens of petitions have been filed raising allegations of paper leakage and other malpractices in the NEET UG 2024 held on May 5.
Amid the demands for re conduct of NEET, the Union government has ordered the CBI probe into the matter and removed the Director General of the NTA.
The court had earlier declined to stay the proposed counselling from July 6 for admission to undergraduate courses in government and private medical colleges across the country.
