"This is not the time for business, anybody overcharging and black marketing Oxygen Cylinders will be punished": Delhi High Court

Overcharging blackmarketing Oxygen Cylinders Delhi HC

On Monday (April 26, 2021), the High Court of Delhi directed the Delhi Government  that ifthey find anybody  overcharging and black marketing oxygen cylinders they should be brought before the Court. 

The Court asked the Delhi Government to exercise it's power and bring them before it for punishment. The Bench of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rakha Palli remarked such while hearing several petitions regarding the shortage of oxygen supply in Delhi's hospitals. 

Justice Vipin Sanghi pointed out:

"Today got a call, people were charged  Rs 1 lakh for an oxygen cylinder". On that Senior Lawyer, Rahul Mehra and Lawyer Satyakam representing the Government,  said before the court that the issue was being looked into and show-cause notices were being sent.

The court remarked that the state is struggling with oxygen deficiency and this not the time for black marketing and overcharging. The high court suggested holding a meeting with oxygen suppliers and hospitals to address the issues and come up with a solution.
