Rajasthan High Court to function through virtual mode, extends interim orders and period of limitation in the wake of the extension of state’s lockdown [READ CIRCULAR]

The Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government, through an official notification, intimated to the public the extension of the lockdown till May 24th, 2021 in the wake of the exponentially rise in the cases of COVID-19 in the state.

In the light of the extension of the lockdown, the Rajasthan High Court has issued a circular stating that the Courts in the state shall, during the span of the lockdown period, will continue to function completely through virtual mode and further provided that all the interim orders between May 18 to May 24 shall remain extended till next month and as per the direction of the Supreme Court, the period of limitation for all judicial and quasi-judicial proceedings shall stand extended till further orders.

The Rajasthan High Court had earlier modified its directions when the state government had extended its curfew for two more weeks, from April 19th- May 3rd, whereby the court provided that both the benches of the High Court shall function completely virtually for the hearing of urgent matters instituted in the year 2021 with the exception that any other matter be taken up with the permission of the Court.
