SAT Extends Suspension of Judicial Functions till 18 Septemberamid the Pandemic [READ NOTIFICATION]

The Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) on Wednesday (September 02, 2020), through an official notification, extended the closure of the tribunal till 18 September amid the coronavirus pandemic. The notification states that all cases which due for hearing between 03 September to 18 September will be adjourned and rescheduled between November 9 to December 4.

The directions already issued and permitted from time to time shall be continued and all earlier orders shall be aligned with the present order and shall remain in force up to and inclusive of September 18, the official notification reads.

It further states that in cases for interim orders, if any, would remain in force till the next date of hearing. 

However, the office of the Registry with limited staff shall function through video conference for the purpose of administrative work from September 07 from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm until further orders. 

The tribunal had earlier extended the closure of the judicial work till September 02 while allowing to function through video conference.

The notification has also clarified that in case of extreme urgent matters, the parties may file cases under the standard operating procedures introduced by the tribunal earlier.
