SC agrees to set up a high-level committee to inquire into security lapses during PM's visit to Punjab

SC agrees to set up a high-level committee headed by a retired SC judge to inquire into security lapses during PM's visit to Punjab on January 5. SC asked both Centre and Punjab to stay inquiries by their respective panels.

SC, which will pass a detailed order, orally said it proposes to include in the retired SC judge-headed inquiry committee, DGP Chandigarh, IG National Investigation Agency, Registrar General and ADGP (security) of Punjab.

SC said it will ask the inquiry committee to submit its report to the apex court within the shortest possible time and thereafter pass orders for action to be taken by the Centre and the state. "We are taking PM's security breach very seriously," the SC said.
