SC is hearing a plea by Class X & XII students seeking urgent directions to conduct Class X & XII CBSE - ICSE Term I exams [LIVE UPDATES]

CBSE - ICSE Term I exams in hybrid manner

Sr Adv Sanjay Hegde: pandemic is not over and its premature to say that there will be full fledged physical exam. children come from multi generational family. whenever there is congregation virus can spread.

Hedge: there are 14 lakh children who can be affected. We only want the hybrid mode to continue now

SG Tushar Mehta: there was no hybrid exam last year. thre are 14 lakh class 10 students and 20 lakh in class 12.

SG: Exams are already started on November 16, 2021. This was notified in October. COVID concerns have been taken care of. earlier 40 students sat in class but now only 12 students will be sitting in class so that there is social distancing. exam centers increased to 15,000

SG: Exam time of three hours have now been reduced to 90 minutes Without disturbing the process of exam we can deploy more measures for safety

Hegde: its not a question of 34 lakh students. Here india along with students, parents also turn up. so another 34 lakh parents

SC: There are 15,000 centers

Hedge: i am not saying they have not taken precaution

SC: Exams are going on. Let us be practical. now how can it made be online

Hedge: major papers like languages, maths and science there is crowding, now only minor papers were held. Please allow those of us who seek to avail hybrid model to avail the same

SC: Now they have to install it. its too late now and exams cannot be rescheduled.

Hedge: the exams have now become 90 minutes and this exam has also now become multiple choice questions..

SC: you are very late. everytime this happens and headlines are made

Hedge: we made representations etc after october notification.

SC: you moved this court on Nov 15 is it not

Hedge: it was filed slightly earlier

SC: Conducting exam for 34 lakh students in this chaotic situation....

SC: This last minute business has to be discouraged

Hegde: covid is an evolving situation..they had thought of a situation of closure already and cited the online option..

SC: At this level giving hope to students have to be discouraged

SC: Don't mess up with the education system. Let the authorities continue their work

Hegde: they had planned for it.

SC: We will not encourage this in the last moment..

Adv M Partibhan: red alert has been given in Tamil Nadu and situation of flood is given.. please give direction to HC to dispose off our plea

SC: This plea seeks online exams for class 10 and 12 CBSE board students. It is urged MCQs are available and contemplated by authorities as can been from correspondence.

SC: One option was to conduct MCQ based exam from home. however as exam is going on from Nov 16 it would not be apt to intervene and disturb the entire process.

SC: The case was listed on Nov 15 and adjourned to serve copy on respondent. SG appears for CBSE and pointed out all precautions have been taken for offline mode exam.
