The Supreme Court on September 17, 2018, lifted the ban imposed by the Ministry of Health on the manufacture for sale or distribution of popular painkiller Saridon and three other fixed-dose combination (FDC) drugs.
Though the Ministry of Health on September 12, 2018, imposed the ban on the manufacture for sale or distribution of 328 FDCs, the apex court Bench of Justices R.F Nariman and Indu Malhotra allowed the sale of only four drugs - Piramal Healthcares Saridon, GlaxoSmithKlines Piriton, Juggat Pharmas Dart and another drug.
Further, the Bench also issued a notice to the Centre and sought its reply on the plea filed by some drug makers and pharma associations.
