We Believe Our Own: Says SC On Report Filed By 4 Judges Of J&K HC Stating No Minors Were Detained In Jails

A bench headed by Justice NV Ramana of the Supreme Court of India said that it was satisfied with the report filed by 4 Judges of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, which said that post-abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, no minors have been detained in jails.

When senior advocate Huzefa Ahmadi, appearing for petitioner Enakshi Ganguly asked for an opportunity to file a reply on the report submitted by the Juvenile Justice Committee of the J&K High Court, the Supreme Court said that it wouldnt be proper for the court to not believ its own judges. Apparently, the report was prepared after the four J&K HC Judges had visited all the jails in Jammu and Kashmir to look for minors.

The petitioners maintained that the J&K Government itself had accepted that 89 children had been detained in jails in J&K and requested the court to provide a copy of the report in question so that its findings could be verified.
