NEW DELHI: In a major development, the Supreme Court on Thursday restrained courts across the country from entertaining any fresh suit or passing effective --- interim or final --- orders on pending suits with regard to mosques, religious places or shrines as the matter related to validity of the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991 is pending before it.
A bench of Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna and Justices Sanjay Kumar and K V Vishwanathan said its order would be effective till the next date of order.
