On Friday ( September 4, 2020), the Supreme Court of India denied bail to former MP Sajjan Kumar, who is serving life term imprisonment presently after he was convicted in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, in the case of Sajjan Kumar v. State through CBI comprising of the Chief Justice of India, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice V Rama Subramanian.
The Three-Bench of the Supreme Court stated that it is not a small case and we cannot grant mail. It was also stated that there is no need to stay in hospital when the medical reports of Sajjan Kumar say that there is no need for hospitalization.
Sajjan Kumar, who is a former Congress leader was convicted in the killing of give family members in Delhi’s Raj Nagar and setting a Gurudwara on fire in 1984. Further, the Court said that they will hear the appeal again once the physical courts start functioning.
