Sunanda Pushkar Case Shashi Tharoor

Senior Congress Leader Shashi Tharoor has moved an application in the Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi on February 24, 2020 for the preservation of his deceased wife Sunanda Pushkars Twitter account. The court has directed the police to file a reply regarding this. The police had filed a 3000 page charge sheet against Shashi Tharoor on 14th May 2018. The police clearly said that a case of instigating for suicide under Section 498a and 306 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 should be filed against him. On the basis of the Chargesheet the Patiala House Court had found Tharoor guilty. Sunandas brother Ashish Das said that she was very happy with her married life and would never even consider the thought of committing suicide, although the last few days she was bit disturbed about something.

Sunanda Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances on January 17th in a five star hotel in Delhi. Just a day before her demise she had an argument with Pakistani Journalist Mehar Tarar on Twitter. Sunanda had also accused Tharoor of having an extra marital affair with Mehar Tarar. Tharoors lawyer Vikas Pahwa released a statement and claimed that the charges framed by the police are false. Pahwa also said that the police are talking about the self framed charges in bits and pieces which is against the court of law. He also added that the Prosecutor is not telling about the comments specialist made after the psychological autopsy. They clearly stated that this is not a suicide or a muder. Tharoors application for the preservation of the Twitter Account of Sunanda may bring a new twist in this case. Today, Mr Pahwa informed the court that as per Twitter's inactive account policy, the social media website deactivates those accounts which remain dormant for long. He said: 'Twitter's policy considers inactivity of 6 months as prolonged. Pushkar's account has been inactive since 2014. 'Citing Pushkar's tweets as vital evidence for defence, Mr Pahwa sought a direction to be issued to the Investigating Officer to make a representation before Twitter asking it to preserve the account.
