Supreme Court adjourns LakhimpurKheri case to Monday

Supreme Court adjourns LakhimpurKheri case to Monday on a request made by Sr adv Harish Salve, who represents the UttarPradesh Govt. Salve said he is "working something out".

UP govt gets time till Monday to carry out SC's suggestion to appoint either former Punjab & Haryana HC judge Ranjit Singh or Rakesh Kumar Jain for supervision of SIT probe into Lakhimpur Kheri incidents - mowing down of 4 farmers, lynching of 3 accused & murder of a journalist.

Senior advocate Harish Salve, on behalf of UP government, informed a bench headed by CJI N V Ramana, that the suggested appointment would be done by Monday. SC had suggested appointment of a retired judge to infuse fairness, transparency and faith in the SIT's investigations.
