Supreme Court Coal Block Allocation

Supreme Court is hearing a matter relating to Coal Block Allocation to private companies and seeking a Court Monitored Investigation into said allocations by CBI or an SIT.

ASG Aishwarya Bhati for ED: weve filed an IA.

Bench- to relieve one applicant ?

ASG: thats an independent IA, weve filed for more officers 4 joint director level officers of ED, 3 IO level officers.

Bhushan- reason that this court asked for a list was cos of fear of govt influencing the investigation. Court has to ask ED why investigations arent complete

CJI: Thats another issue, Officers shouldnt suffer 10 years working on one issue also doesnt look nice.

Bhushan: Why have they not finished investigation in 10 years

Bench- File affidavit on Stage of different investigation

ASG: Well file status report

Bench- Mr Bhushan submits its been 10 years but investigation isnt complete in many cases. Hes prayed court to direct Govt to indicate stages of investigation in different cases. We direct Central government to file affidavit.
