Supreme Court Interim application cutting and planting of trees

SupremeCourt to hear an Interim application filed in the case of MC Mehta v. Union of India for cutting and planting of trees, and modification of the earlier order of the Supreme Court.

Rao: I have filed an IA to modify the order of this court.

Order: The application seeks direction for the planting trees on non-forest land because the number of trees that are to be cut has reduced from 3940 to 2803. The CEC has recommended that order can be modified. Allowed.

Another request is made by the State of Uttar Pradesh for the falling of trees and whole crops for a development project.

Order: The CEC has granted the falling of 1448 trees. Therefore, the order is modified and permission is granted.
