NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has indicated to take up a plea by Muslims side in Gyanvapi-Kashi Vishwanath premises on April 14.
Senior advocate Huzefa Ahmadi mentioned the matter before a bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice J B Pardiwala.
Appearing on behalf of Anjuman Intejamia Masjid, which managed the mosque, he submitted measures were required to be undertaken to protect the rights of 'namazis' during the ongoing month of Ramazan.
The bench said the matter has already been listed on April 21.
As he sought an earlier date, the court asked him to file an application and mention it before the court, which would take up the matter on April 14.
The plea sought desealing of part of Vazukhana where a 'Shiv Lingam' was reportedly found during a survey by the court-appointed Commissioner on May 16, 2022.
On May 17, 2022, the top court had ordered protecting the 'Shiv Lingam' but not in any manner restraining or impeding the access of Muslims to the mosque or the use of the Mosque for the purpose of performing Namaz and religious observances.
The top court had already fixed for hearing on April 21 a plea filed on behalf of the Hindu sides to consolidate all pending suits related to the dispute before the Varanasi court.
