If State Was Not in a Rush to Make Out a False Case, Preliminary Inquiry Would Have Been Conducted Before FIR: Sushants Sisters Tell Bombay High Court

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters, Priyanka, and Meetu Singh have approached the Bombay High Court to quash an FIR registered against them by the Mumbai Police for allegedly preparing a fake prescription of medicines for anxiety for Sushant Singh Rajput.

FIR had been against them and Dr. Tarun Kumar - an associate professor of cardiology from Ram Manohar Lohia actor Rhea Chakraborty.

The case was subsequently transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation and is still under investigation.

Rhea Chakraborty has alleged that the medicines provided by Sushant's sister combined with the joint given to him by the house help may have led him to take the drastic step.

The petition was heard before a bench of Justices SS Shinde and MS Karnik.

The petition has been filed by advocate Madhav Thorat representing the sisters who have cited discrepancies in the complaint and stated that the complaint is an afterthought filed to digress the investigation.

They have sought relief of stay on the FIR till the time the case is heard and damages for a malafide FIR.

They have further cited a 91-day delay in registration of FIR.

The petition claims that the prescription by Dr. Kumar is covered under the Telemedicine Guidelines and Telepsychiatry Operational Guidelines further adding that there isn't an iota of evidence of preliminary investigation which would be required to show that the prescription is forged.

The sisters have accused Rhea Chakraborty of filing the FIR for "ulterior motives" and purely to take revenge for registration of FIR against her which finally culminated in CBI taking over the investigation.

It also states that they have been in constant media glare after their brothers death.

They have also accused the Mumbai Police of malafide prosecution.

The petition was adjourned for next week as an advocate failed to appear on behalf of the CBI.
