This cant be done Madras HC observes on slaughtering goat with TN BJP chief on defeat in LS polls

Chennai: "This cannot be done" Acting Chief Justice of Madras High court on Monday observed in a PIL seeking action against DMK cadres slaughtering goat with Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai photo in public view on road spreading blood to celebrate his defeat in the Coimbatore Lok Sabha Election.

The PIL was moved by advocates A Mohan Das from BJP through G S Mani.

When the plea came up for hearing before Acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court, the councel for the petitioner Mani argued that slaughtering goat with BJP President Annamalai photo in public view not only amounts to penal offences but also amounts to offences under prevention of cruelty to animals act.

If this type of actions is ignored, this will become bad precedent, he said, adding such kind of abhorrent action should be curbed.

Having heard the argument, acting Chief Justice Mahadevan observed that "this cannot be done".

The bench asked Tamil Nadu counsel. "you get proper instruction from the government" in one week.

The court fixed the matter for hearing after one week.
