Triple murder case SC notice to CBI to plea for transfer of probe against ex Home Min of MP

NEW DELHI: A Dalit woman has filed a plea in the Supreme Court for a CBI probe against the former Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Bhupendra Singh, alleging his henchmen were involved in killing of her three family members, 20-year-old girl Anjana Ahirwar, son and brother-in-law.

A bench of Justices J K Maheshwari and Aravind Kumar, which heard the plea, issued notice to the Madhya Pradesh government and the CBI seeking their responses in the case also to her prayer for transfer of matter to Delhi.

The plea stated the former Home Minister, being a politically powerful figure, is currently an MLA from Sagar district.

"The failure of the Madhya Pradesh Police to conduct a fair investigation, coupled with the ongoing political pressure and threats faced by the family members of the deceased since 2019, warrants a CBI inquiry led by officers from outside the state of Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, to ensure a fair and just investigation and trial, it is essential that these cases be transferred to Delhi," the plea said.

Senior advocate Colin Gonsalves and advocate Meenesh Dubey, appearing for the petitioner Badi Bahu sought a direction for an impartial probe by CBI into the triple murder case against former MP State Home Minister, Bhupendra Singh.

The plea claimed three members of her family were killed.

It claimed the sabotage of the investigation and the killing of eyewitnesses were the result of a criminal conspiracy, which involved members of the village dominant community headed by the former home minister of the State of MP.

The petitioner claimed she has lost members of her family i.e. Nitin- her son, Rajendra, her brother-in-law and Anjana her daughter.

"Even after her the killings, the police extended full assistance to the accused persons only because the former State Home Minister and his group was behind the killings. Resultantly, no prosecution of the accused persons is possible in the State of Madhya Pradesh," the plea claimed, seeking transfer of the case to Delhi.
