11 Benches of the Delhi High Court to Conduct Physical Hearings from 18th to 20th February, 2021 [READ ORDER]

In a recent order dated 14.01.2021, the Delhi High Court has announced that 11 benches of the High Court shall conduct physical hearings from 18.01.2021. The subject of the order states Extension of Present System of Hearing of Matters before Delhi High Court till 20.02.2021.

 The order came in the consequence of less number of covid-19 cases in the NCT of Delhi.

The Division of the 11 benches according to the order are as follows-

 

  • 2 Division Benches
  • 3 Single Benches (Civil Side)
  • 3 Single Benches (Criminal Side)
  • 3 benches having Original Jurisdiction (Civil Side)

 The order clarified that the remaining benches of the High Court shall continue to hear cases through video conferencing as per the roster which is soon to be notified on the website of Delhi High Court. Also, the order stated that all the benches of the High Court shall continue to hear recent matters and including the cases which were pending since 2018, 2019 and 2020.

It is also stated that from 18.01.2021 the joint registrars will hold physical courts via video conferencing on alternate days. It is advised to record all the evidences of the cases. 

The other non urgent and pending matters listed before the honourable high court dated from 18th January 2021 to 20th February 2021 will be adjourned en bloc to the next hearing date which is scheduled in the months of March and April. 

Lastly, the order also request to maintain social distancing norms and strictly follow all the Government guidelines to all the visitors who are attending Physical hearing in the court.
