Justice NV Ramana Takes Oath as 48th Chief Justice of India

Justice NV Ramana Takes Oath CJI

Justice NV Ramana took oath on Saturday (April 24, 2021) as the 48th Chief Justice of India.

The oath was administered to Justice Ramana by India's President, Ram Nath Kovind. Justice Ramana will serve as the Chief Justice of India till (August 26, 2022). Justice Ramana was the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court until being appointed to the Supreme Court on (February 17, 2014).

On (August 27, 1957), he was born in an agricultural family in Ponnavaram Village, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh.

On (February 10, 1983), he enrolled as an advocate and practised in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the Central and Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunals, and the Supreme Court of India in civil, criminal, constitutional, labour, service, and election matters. 

He has also served as Andhra Pradesh's Additional Advocate General. 

On June 27, 2000, he was appointed to the Andhra Pradesh High Court as a permanent judge. From March 10, 2013, to May 20, 2013, he served as Acting Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
