In a revolutionary step to advance the career of young lawyers, the Kerala Government through a circular dated March 9th, 2018, has approved granting of a monthly stipend of Rs. 5000 to lawyers who are under 30 years of age and who have not acquired practice of more than three years at the bar, and whose annual income is less than Rs. 1 lakh per annum.
To avail the stipend the lawyer should be below thirty years of age, and he is required to submit an application in the prescribed format before the Advocate Welfare Fund Committee along with age proof, income proof and an affidavit attested by his/her senior (having at least 15 years of experience) or concerned Bar Association every three months stating that he/she is still in active practice.
The circular came pursuant to a letter of recommendation by the Advocate General, who is also the Chairperson of the Advocate Welfare Fund Trust Committee.
