Kerala High Court to function via online mode with modified sitting and filing arrangements

The Kerala high court issued a notification about the modified sitting and filing arrangement for the lockdown period. As per the modification, the function of the court will be via video conferencing through two Division benches and three single benches.

E- filing of cases

Filing of cases through e-filing mode will continue as per the commencement of high court in 17.05.2021. A physical copy of e-filing cases during the lockdown period should be submitted with the registry by the parties concerned within 45 days of the date of filing. 

The notification also says that Advocates or parties can file through physical mode if they find extreme difficulty in e-filing. 

In such cases, the scrutinization will only be done on the next day and it will be posted before the court if it fulfills the requirements. A review of the present system of filing will be done in 15 days or once the lockdown is lifted. The Court also allowed the filing of urgent memos for advocates/parties who desires to move a case that was filed through physical mode either before or after the introduction of e-filing. 

As per the notification, the e- filing module for the sub-ordinate courts in the state is not approved except for the commercial courts, Munsif - magistrate court Kolenchery and Rent control court Ernakulam 

Special cell for proper functioning 

A special cell will be constituted to oversee the proper functioning of the process inquiries. It will include Smt. Saleena  VG(Director IT), Sri.Joseph Rajesh KA(Deputy registrar IT), and Sri.VT Ranjith(assistant registrar)
