NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court today granted interim relief to Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar in his plea against alleged defamation by digital news portal The Wire. The verdict was delivered by a bench of Justice Sachin Datta.

The Court has directed The Wire to take down the article and tweets against the officer finding the same to be prima facie defamatory.

Kumar had alleged that The Wire had defamed him through a report which casted aspersions on him by falsely alleging his involvement in a land acquisition case.

The suit has been filed against the news report titled Links of Son of Delhi Chief Secretary to Beneficiary's Family in Land Over-Valuation Case Raise Questions which was written by one Meetu Jain and published by The Wire on its platform on Nov 9.

The full order is yet to be published.
