PRAYAGRAJ: A public interest litigation (PIL) plea has been moved before the Allahabad High Court has sought a ban on the upcoming Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav (consecration ceremony) of the Shri Ram Lalla idol at Ayodhya's Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple, stating that as per the Hindu calendar, no auspicious religious programs should be organized in the month of Paush, as per reports.
The plea also alleges that the Pran Pratishtha Mahotsav is scheduled to be conducted on January 22, has been orchestrated by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for political advantage in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Reportedly filed by one Bhola Das, a resident of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, the petitioner has also submitted that consecration of Shri Ram Lalla in the incomplete temple is inconsistent with the Sanatan Dharm tradition.
"A religious program is going to be organised in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. The idol of Ram Lalla will be installed at the under-construction temple. The ceremony will be performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Shankaracharyas have an objection to the Pran Pratistha programme...The temple is still incomplete...no deity can be consecrated," the petition stated.
